Activity: The UMMC World Sleep Day 2023 was held on March 17, 2023, with the theme “Sleep is crucial for health” and the topic of “Tech in Sleep” on the agenda. The purpose of this event was to educate medical professionals and the general public on the significance of sleep and the role technology plays in sleep. As we advance as a unit, technology becomes a larger part of our everyday practice, as it is essential at nearly every stage of patient care, from diagnostics to therapy.

To push the envelope and introduce further developments in the field of sleep medicine, close collaboration between inventors and medical professionals is crucial. This event is unique because it brings together professionals from non-medical fields like bioengineering and entrepreneurship with medical departments like ENT, Respiratory medicine, Neurology, and dentistry. There were at least 150 attendees by the conclusion of the event, and innumerable connections were created between potential researchers and medical practitioners in order to bring ideas to life.

This event was organized jointly by the University of Malaya, MRANTI, the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), the Sleep Disorder Society of Malaysia (SDSM), the Center for Innovation and Medical Engineering (CIME), and Singhealth.
