Short Bio: I am currently working as an Associate Consultant in the Department of Critical Care and Sleep Medicine in SUM Ultimate Medicare, a 375 bedded corporate hospital in Bhubaneswar,Odisha,India.
We have a Level 1 polysomnography laboratory that satisfies all AASM standards requirements is already a part of our facility and we have slowly started enrolling patients.

After receiving my Master’s in Pulmonary Medicine, I spent three years working under Drs. George Dsouza, Uma Maheswari, and Uma Devraj in the department of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at St. John’s Medical College and Hospital in Bengaluru. It was here that I discovered my passion for sleep medicine.

Level 1 and Level 3 sleep studies were carried out regularly and scored so we had a good exposure. In addition, I presented my sleep research at the 2017 World Congress of Sleep Medicine in Prague. Moreover, I won second place for the best paper award for sleep research at NAPCON 2017
(National conference for pulmonologists).

I then finished my critical
care fellowship at Apollo
Hospitals in Chennai. In
addition, I received a formal year of sleep medicine
training from Dr. Nagarajan
Ramakrishnan at the Nithra
Institute of Sleep Sciences
in Chennai. I have also passed cleared my sleep fellowship exam in 2021(theory and practical) conducted by the Indian Society of Sleep disorders.

Activity: Physicians and the general public still lack knowledge of sleep medicine as a department and referral facility, as well as knowledge about the many sleep disorders and treatments.

We had a live interview and phone calls session in a regional News channel (in Odia) to provide pertinent information on sleep medicine to medical students, general practitioners, resident doctors, and other healthcare professionals. Me and Dr.Satyajit Acharya spoke about various benefits of a good sleep, how to maintain good sleep hygiene, how to identify symptoms of OSA and insomnia. We also stressed on the harmful effects gadgets have these days on our sleep.

We also addressed few queries from general public most of which revolved around insomnia and shift work disorders.
