Short Bio: World Sleep Day Celebration: SleepWell Community Outreach in Vietnam
To celebrate World Sleep Day, our team, comprising four dedicated members, initiated a vital screening program aimed at addressing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The members include:
•Dr. Bui Diem Khue from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
•Dr. Nguyen Binh Thu from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
•Dr. Tran Quoc Tai from the University Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
•Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Diep, Manager of SleepFi Clinic, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
We are currently in the WSA class of 2024.

Activity: Our program was designed to not only screen for OSA but also to disseminate knowledge about this condition to both patients and the broader community. We achieved this through a livestream session hosted by Dr. Bui Diem Khue, aligning with the initiatives of the World Sleep Academy. Dr. Bui Diem Khue is one of the International Sleep Specialists certified by the World Sleep Society in 2019.

In preparation for this event, our team undertook the following tasks:
1. Dr. Tran Quoc Tai adapted the validated STOP-BANG questionnaire to the Vietnamese context, making it accessible online https://khaosat.ngungthokhingu.vn/
2. Ms. Diep was responsible for creating and promoting the event on Facebook, which can be viewed https://www.facebook.com/events/1414142782826180/

On the day of the event:
1. Dr. Bui Diem Khue delivered an engaging presentation that captivated the audience, achieving a peak viewership of 387. The session was interactive, with viewers posing numerous insightful questions about OSA, including its relationship with snoring, differentiation from normal snoring, health impacts, high-risk factors, symptoms, treatment options including CPAP machines, self-treatment feasibility, associated risks with other conditions, preventive measures, and its occurrence in children.
2. Dr. Nguyen Binh Thu compiled the questions and feedback received during the event. Additionally, participants provided evaluations for the STOP-BANG questionnaire linked to the event.

Reflecting on the program, our team acknowledged the substantial interest in OSA within the community. The livestream format proved to be increasingly popular and suitable for modern audiences. Based on this success and the feedback received, we are motivated to refine future livestreams to better match our viewers’ interests and questions. Furthermore, we plan to continue utilizing the STOP-BANG questionnaire as an effective screening tool tailored for the Vietnamese population. The Stop-bang survey link will still be available after the event.

We extend our heartfelt wishes for a Happy World Sleep Day and remain committed to enhancing awareness and understanding of sleep-related conditions among our community.
