Short Bio: Dr Lizzie Hill is a Senior Lecturer in Sleep Physiology at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol).

Lizzie has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist sleep Clinical Physiologist working with adults and children with sleep disorders in clinical and research settings in Edinburgh, Scotland. She gained her PhD by Research at The University of Edinburgh in 2016, examining prevalence and treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea in adults with Down syndrome. Lizzie is now a full-time educator, and has spent the last 4 years as a lecturer on undergraduate & postgraduate sleep medicine courses at the University of Oxford, UWE Bristol and Glasgow Caledonian University.

Lizzie is a Society Rep for The Physiological Society & Past President of the European Society of Sleep Technologists. She has previously served as the Education Lead of the British Sleep Society & as a member of the Examination Committee of the European Sleep Research Society.

Activity: This World Sleep Day, join Dr Lizzie Hill (UWE Bristol) & Prof Robert Meadows (University of Surrey) as they welcome speakers from two leading charities for an online discussion on sleep inequity in the UK.

Ally Rush (Shelter Bristol) and Andy Peers (Zarach) will explore how disparities in access to safe, secure sleeping spaces impact on the health of children and adults across the UK.

A round-table discussion will consider how we can begin to address these factors and move towards sleep equity for all.
