Russia 2015: Head of Voronezh Regional Department of Interregional Somnologists’ Association

Held the conference devoted to the World Sleep Day 2015. In her organization participated specialists from Voronezh N.N. Burdenko State Medical Academy (Olga Lyshova, MD, PhD, Professor) and Medical and Sanitary Hospital of Ministry of Home Affairs of Voronezh Region (Lyudmila Ivannikova, MD, the Head of the Internal Disease Department; Irina Kostenko, MD, the Head of the Rehabilitation Department; Natalia Kharina, MD, doctor at the Internal Diseases Department), members of Voronezh Regional Department of Interregional Somnologists’ Association. Among the guests – doctors, nurses, patients, students 4 course. Before the conference was music Francesco Parrino (composer of “Stay Tonight”). The conference was opened Professor Olga Lyshova. In her report she spoke about the history of the World Sleep Day, reminded famous proverbs and sayings in which deep sleep is associated with health. Drew attention to the image of sleep in the paintings of Russian painters, as well as in Russian literature, particularly poetry Alexander Pushkin. She also raised the interesting facts of life scientists who were pioneers sleep study. Next to the audience were the students of the 4-th year of study: Katherine Savchenko and Michael Rudev with presentation “Sleep and alcohol”, Anna Lysenko and Sofia Cherenkova – “Sleep and smoking”, Eugene Proskurin – “The impact of caffeine on sleep.” In the following answers were given to questions from the audience. When answering, we tried to increase the motivation of the participants healthy lifestyles, and therefore the normalization of sleep. The poster with the information on World Sleep Day 2015 was prepared with the help of Nikolai Borodin, MD and Maria Zykina, MD, postgraduate students, Arina Ryabkova, 6-year medical student.

Burdenko State Medical Academy in 1996. Professor Department of Faculty Therapy since 2008. Performs portable bifunctional monitoring since 1999 and multifunctional monitoring since 2004. Interested in visual analysis of the breathing pattern in adult patients and treatment of respiratory sleep disorders.
