Short Bio: 

Munira Alieva is a practicing neurologist at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Republican specialized scientific-practical medical center of Endocrinology and neurologist, somnologist at the Innovative Clinic of Doctor Maksudova in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She graduated from the Tashkent Medical Academy and obtained her Master`s degree at the Tashkent Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education at the Department of Neurology. In her practical activities of intraoperative monitoring in neurosurgery and polysomnography, Mrs. Alieva uses the knowledge and experience gained at the leading Russian clinics. Being a member of the Russian Society of Sleep Medicine, she actively takes part in the conferences and training courses in Russia, Germany, and other European countries.

Since Somnology and Intraoperative Neuromonitoring are at the moment one of the new, developing areas of medicine in Uzbekistan, Munira Alieva is currently the only certified specialist in the country. She considers it necessary to contribute to the development of medicine and science in Uzbekistan through learning innovative experiences of other countries and to share the learnings with colleagues. She believes it would help to improve the quality and capacity of neurological care of the population in her home country

Activity:

1. Online consultancy of the population of Uzbekistan on sleep problems for the magazine “Shifo Info”.
2. The Seminar for the doctors of the clinic about the most common problems during sleep.
3. Webinar with children (grade 3, ages 9-10) about the meaning of sleep and training in sleep hygiene.
4. Recording a video clip for patients about one of the significant problems of somnology – sleep apnea syndrome.
5. I was one of the curators of the marathon (on the healthy lifestyle in the pandemic), organized by “Anatomica” magazine. My task was to teach the basics of sleep hygiene and guide marathon participants in solving sleep problems.
6. I’ve surveyed the population on the subject of “How Uzbekistan sleeps” (questioning through Google Docs and regular questioning).
