Delegate: Mark Patterson, MD, PhD
Affiliation: Day4NAPs and Carilion Clinic
Short Bio: I am a pediatrician who has been interested in narcolepsy and cataplexy for over 20 years. In addition to my clinical work, I am the founder of the narcolepsy-awareness non-profit Day4NAPs. This organization serves as a global digital database for narcolepsy and related events. Additionally, I give talks on pediatric sleep disorders to national and international audiences.
Activity: I am giving a poster presentation on narcolepsy and cataplexy to a general pediatric office. Because of the long delay between symptom onset (usually in early adolescence) and diagnosis, it is critical that primary care providers be aware of the conditions and include them in the differential diagnosis of a sleepy child.
