Short Bio:
Activity: Students for Interprofessional Practice and Education (SIPE) and OneHealth are student-run organizations at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. We collaborate in hosting a bi-monthly study club focused on sleep and airway health, facilitated by Dr. Leopoldo Correa, Division Director of Craniofacial Pain at TUSDM. We are planning a celebration in March for World Sleep Day, an initiative by the World Sleep Society. In more than 70 countries, thousands of advocates for sleep health will be organizing activities promoting sleep health on and around March 17th. We plan to become delegates for the World Sleep Society and submit our activity to be published on their website and as a candidate for a Distinguished Activity Award.
Because many dental students and faculty will be attending a national dental research conference on March 17th, we will be hosting our World Sleep Day event a week early on March 9th. Dental sleep specialist Dr. Correa, along with ENT/sleep physician Dr. Siegel, will facilitate a discussion about the importance of sleep for physical, mental, and social well-being. Tufts dental students and faculty will be invited, as well as the greater Tufts community. This will be a hybrid event held at the dental school, with students from TUSDM’s partner dental schools in Peru, Mexico, and Columbia attending virtually.
