United States 2022: Mark Patterson, MD, PhD | Day4NAPs

Delegate: Mark Patterson, MD, PhD

Affiliation: Day4NAPs

Short Bio: I am a pediatrician who became active in raising awareness about sleep disorders, especially narcolepsy, following the diagnosis in a family member over 18 years ago. I have used my interactions with medical students, pediatric resident physicians, and my peers to educate them about the unmet needs of patients with sleep disorders. I have given presentations on narcolepsy and cataplexy at local/regional/national/international venues. I am also the founder of the non-profit Day For Narcolepsy Awareness Projects (aka Day4NAPs.

Activity: I arranged to have a booth at the Roanoke (VA) Shamrock Festival to raise awareness about narcolepsy. Many people stopped by to chat and get information; these included people with narcolepsy, those with family members with the condition, medical personnel, and curious individuals.

Location: Roanoke, VA

Date of Activity: March 19, 2022
