Activity: The WSD was commemorated at the Maudsley Hospital in London with series of activities across the hospital.
Our staff support team had a great time engaging with staff in conversations about sleep during lunch break in the staff canteen where they had set up a WSD stall. They had sleep gift bags with eye masks and various bath products, as well as some hot chocolate, pens, post-its, leaflets, and posters. They encouraged people to share their “top sleep tip” on a whiteboard and got a varied collection of ideas (you can see from the photos) and some people took photos of this or took the Night Shift posters to put up on their wards.
Our inpatient ward AL1, also celebrated the day with series of sleep awareness discussions and presentations with staff, patients and careers.

Our Communications team developed and posted tips on how to have a good night’s sleep on all public display screens and computer screens for the whole week.

The goal was to to improve staff and patients awareness of the importance of sleep for health and wellbeing and to learn simple tips they can use and share with friends and family experiencing difficulty sleeping.
