Short Bio: Dr Allie Hare is a consultant in respiratory medicine at Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust in London.

Dr Hare graduated from Selwyn College, University of Cambridge in 1999, and completed her postgraduate training at Imperial College London in 2002. She continued with postgraduate training in respiratory and general medicine in London at St Mary’s Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital.

In 2013, Dr Hare completed a Master’s in clinical education and was awarded a distinction for her work on the assessment of clinical competence. As part of the prestigious Darzi Fellowship scheme, she has completed postgraduate training in medical leadership and management.

Alongside her role as a consultant physician, Dr Alanna Hare is the Deputy Director of Medical Education for the Trust, and is the local training programme director for core medical trainees and Royal College of Physician Tutor. She is actively involved in education and training for the Trust’s multidisciplinary team. She has recently been appointed Chair of the British Thoracic Society Education and Training Committee.

She was made Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at NHLI 2018 and, together with colleagues from Imperial College, was awarded the first NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Medical Education/Respiratory Medicine. She speaks nationally and internationally on medical education and has published in peer-reviewed journals and authored book chapters on medical education and the importance of training multiprofessional teams. She has been awarded several Health Education England grants and a European Respiratory Society education grant for innovation in medical education.

Activity: The International Sleep Medicine Course (ISMC) which will take place at the Angel Hotel in Cardiff on 6th – 9th March 2023. The ISMC is a joint venture of the Sleep Societies of the British Sleep Society (BSS), Netherlands (NSWO and SVNL) and the Belgian Association for Sleep research and Sleep medicine (BASS). The programme is designed to prepare individuals for the European Somnologist examination and teaches the syllabus of the ESRS textbook. Sessions include Insomnia, Sleep and Psychiatry and the Physiological Basis of Sleep
