Activity: Annually for World Sleep Day, Sleep Society of Thailand created the activity of translating theme of “Sleep is Essential for Health” into Thai language. This activity allowed general people to join the translation in order to promote world sleep day. Committee agreed to choose “การนอนเป็นสิ่งสำคัญ นอนดีทุกวันสุขภาพแข็งแรง” to be Thai slogan. Miss Pinyapat Tiamduangtawan was the winner for the prize and certification.

As every year, Sleep Society of Thailand has collaborated with many hospitals throughout the country to arrange for World Sleep Day activities.

  1. The King Chulalongkorn Memoria Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand 

The King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital has collaboration from Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand for World Sleep Day 2023. During March 7th and 11th, the week of exhibition of sleep activity was held at the hospital. Sleep physicians were available for sleep consultation. On the last day, there were sleep workshops for general populations. They were comprised of “breathing practice from yoga” and “Exercise for good sleep.”

2. Ramathibodi Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand

The activities were held on March 9, 2023. Publicity of sleep knowledge was arranged in the topics of “sleep and brightened face”, “sleep and pediatric allergy”, “sleep and Alzheimer’s disease” and sleep in children and pregnancy.” There were also activities for people to win the prizes such as sending sleep photos of VDO clips in the theme of “Sleep is essential for health” and prince/princess costume contest for children.

3. Central Chest Institute of Thailand, (CCIT) Nonthaburi, Thailand 

World Sleep Day 2023 activity was held on March 17th. There were talks about “Sleep telemedicine” and “experience from sleep patients and management.” CPAP service and care was arranges in this event. TikTok contest with the theme of “Sleep is essential for health” was announced to win the prize. CCIT cooperated with ministry of public health to promote good sleep hygiene for Thai people in “MOR PROM” application.

4. Siriraj Sleep Center, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand 

The talks in the topics of “Snoring, “Sleep hygiene and insomnia”, “importance of sleep in children” and “Sleep in elderly” was given on March 16th. There was a mini concert by Assoc. Prof. Archwin Tanphaichitr, MD who was the winner of sleep song contest last year and The Circle band from Siriraj Sleep Center.

5. Rajavithi Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand 

6. Songklanagarind Hospital Sleep Center, Prince of Songkla University, Hat-Yai, Songkhla

The activities to remark the World Sleep Day 2023 was held on March 17th. There was a talk by the ENT sleep physician, pediatric sleep physician and dental sleep dentist in the topic of “How sleep is essential for adult and children’s health.” Other activities were a competition of the most impressive photographic of sleep, the dance performance of children and musical performance. Staff of the sleep center provided information to interested people. CPAP service and care was arranged in this event.

7. Sleep Disorders Center, Faculty of Medicine, Chiangmai University, Chiangmai

The activity was on March 10, 2023 at Geriatric Medical Center where Sleep Disorders Center is located. There were talks on three topics by sleep medicine specialists include ‘Obstructive sleep apnea in children”, “Obstructive sleep apnea and Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment”, and “Sleep disorders in adults’ and the effects.” In addition, there was a “Question and Answer” session, which the participants could ask the sleep medicine specialist about their doubt of sleep disorders and treatment. Facebook live was provided for those who were interested via Sleep Disorders Center Facebook fan page. The facility also offers CPAP checking by CPAP brand mechanics. Furthermore, the participants could also enjoy knowledge exhibitions all day long.

8. Ubon Ratchathani Province

Public Health agency in Ubon Ratchathani province invited Assoc. Prof. Tayad Desudchit, MD, president of Sleep Society of Thailand to join the World Sleep Day activities.
