Activity: 1. Sleep Health Seminar: “Why Should We Prioritize Sleep Health?” (March 13, 2025)
This seminar explored why sleep should be considered a fundamental pillar of health, alongside nutrition and exercise. With the ever-increasing stresses of modern life—long working hours, excessive exposure to screens, over-reliance on hypnotics or even antibiotics—many people unknowingly compromise their sleep health, which may lead to long-term consequences.
Target Audience:
• Government agencies and New Taipei City’s primary healthcare leaders.
• Executives and employees from listed companies and high-tech industries.
• Corporate ESG teams, emphasizing sustainable workplace health initiatives.
• Over 90% of attendees are licensed physicians and healthcare professionals.
Key topics include:
• The link between sleep deprivation and chronic diseases such as cardiovascular problems, metabolic disorders and cognitive decline.
• The overuse of medications such as antibiotics and sleeping pills and their unexpected effects on sleep and long-term health.
• The importance of raising public awareness and altering policies to encourage better sleep habits among people of all ages.
• Practical solutions to improve sleep hygiene and reduce dependence on medication.
• CHECK Sleep Health+ ESG Initiative: Signing of a tripartite MOU for corporate sleep health advocacy.
• Collaboration with CheckInn Hotels: Introducing sleep health concepts and services to corporate management teams & employees.
• Policy Advocacy: Promoting sleep-friendly workplace policies with government and healthcare leaders.
World Sleep Day in Taiwan attracted widespread media attention, highlighting the importance of integrating sleep health into company wellness and public health policies. Reports in The Observer and Taiwan’s Epoch Times highlighted the ESG Sleep Health Promotion Initiative, a collaboration between government agencies, leading companies, and healthcare organizations to raise sleep awareness. The initiative specifically targets primary healthcare professionals in New Taipei City and extends to a corporate partnership with CheckInn Hotels to address the sleep health needs of executives and employees of publicly traded and high-tech companies. A report by Tongji reporters also explores the theme “Why Should We Prioritize Sleep Health?”, discussing its impact on workplace productivity and the risks associated with issues like antibiotic overuse and sleep disorders. These initiatives reflect Taiwan’s ongoing commitment to elevating sleep health as a key component of public health and corporate responsibility.
2. Taipei Technology Run (April 20, 2025)
