Sleep Apnea Education

Philips obstructive sleep apnea education program

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a condition in which air flow is interrupted during sleep. Recent studies have shown that OSA is associated with short-term symptoms like excessive tiredness, automotive accidents, and neurocognitive and performance deficits. If left untreated, there is an increased risk of long-term consequences, such as stroke, abnormal heart rhythm, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

Most people suffering from OSA remain undiagnosed or are not receiving proper treatment. Philips Respironics has launched an OSA disease education program on to help increase the knowledge and understanding of OSA and to help guide people suffering from OSA to the right diagnosis and treatment.

The program features an interactive OSA risk assessment “sleep quiz“. Results from the quiz can be downloaded and printed to aid discussions with a doctor about the risk of OSA.

The OSA educational website centralizes the information and materials into one convenient and easy-to-access online resource for the general public. It offers:

– Practical advice to help OSA sufferers manage their condition

– Treatment guide
