Short Bio: Prof Meira e Cruz is European Somnologist – Expert in Sleep Medicine (ESRS) and International Sleep Disorders Specialist (WSS). He is the Head of the Sleep Unit of the Cardiovascular Center, University of Lisbon, Lisbon School of Medicine and Director of the European Sleep Center. International Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, Dr. Meira e Cruz dedicates it’s clinical practice to both Sleep Medicine and Orofacial Sleep Medicine scope. His main research interest is related with Comorbid Insomnia and Sleep Apnea, Circadian Regulation of Sleep and their interaction with Cardiometabolic Risk. Dr. Meira e Cruz is author and co-author of several books, book chapters, peer reviewed indexed papers and abstracts on Sleep and Circadian Medicine as well as Sleep Physiology and Chronobiology.
Activity: Launch of the book “A breathtaking Christmas” on the topic of the Obstructive Sleep Apnea related to the Santa Claus. This book is directed to children’s, parents and caregivers in general evoking sleep related health problems like apnea and circadian misaligment and behavioral impact.
Orofacial Sleep Medicine International Hands-On Course, held in the Lisbon School of Medicine on 25,26th March 2023. This interdisciplinary international course is organized by the European Sleep Center together with the Sleep Unit of the Cardiovascular Center of University of Lisbon. 4 Leaders in the Orofacial Sleep Medicine Field (Drs. Miguel Meira e Cruz, from Lisbon, Antonio Romero Garcia, Spain, Domínik Ettlin, Switzerland and Leopoldo Correa, United States will provide a two day course with an extensive overview and practical insights in this important field.
