Short Bio: The Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine (PSSMI) is an organization with an advocacy to promote awareness on the importance of sleep health. It aims to educate healthcare professionals to recognize and manage sleep disorders and it is their goal to advance the field of sleep healthcare through research. PSSM has a mindset of establishing standards for the practice of sleep medicine in the Philippines and nurture the professional growth of its members.
Activity: The Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine has been celebrating World Sleep Day for more than a decade. This year’s celebration was perhaps the biggest event as the Society reached out to the healthcare providers, the public and government in its call to prioritize sleep.
Fellows of the PSSM spearheaded celebration of World Sleep Day with discussions among the lay and professionals all over the Philippine Archipelago on the importance of sleep.
The 18th Annual Convention chaired by Dr. April Manlagnit was held on March 20 to 22, 2025. It gathered more than 300 health professionals from all over the country. It featured a Polysomnogram Workshop followed by 2 days of 15 Scientific Lectures by well-known Sleep Specialists. There was also a Research Forum and a Quiz Contest during the event.
One of the highlights of the World Sleep Day celebration for 2025 was the Press Conference by the Society with Philips Respironics and Uratex Company in a call to prioritize sleep. It was widely featured in television social media in the country.
The Society has also partnered with Uratex Company for Mall Events to further celebrate World Sleep Day.
