Mongolia 2026: Dr. Purevdulam Batjargal, Neurologist and Somnologist at the General Hospital for State Special Servants of Mongolia

Delegate: Dr. Purevdulam Batjargal, Neurologist and Somnologist at the General Hospital for State Special Servants of Mongolia

Delegate Short Bio: I am a sleep specialist at the Central Hospital for Special State Employees, committed to advancing sleep health in a setting where sleep medicine is still an emerging field. Our hospital is equipped with two polysomnography (PSG) systems, enabling the diagnosis and evaluation of a wide range of sleep disorders. In my country, insomnia and sleep apnea are highly prevalent, highlighting the urgent need for improved sleep health services and awareness.

Despite the limited availability of formal training programs in sleep medicine, I have demonstrated strong initiative by pursuing extensive self-directed learning to strengthen my clinical and research expertise. As part of my academic work, I conducted a study involving 200 participants aged 18–65, utilizing sleep recordings to investigate the relationship between subjective and objective sleep quality.

My clinical experience with patients presenting complex sleep disorders, including narcolepsy, has further strengthened my commitment to specializing in this field. Recognizing gaps in education and care, I actively contribute through community outreach, public education, and targeted training programs for high-risk groups such as shift workers.

Through these efforts, I aim not only to improve patient outcomes but also to contribute to the long-term development of sleep medicine in my country. My work reflects a strong commitment to leadership, innovation, and advancing sleep health at both clinical and community levels.

Scope of Activity: Campaign

Activity: I conducted several activities to promote sleep health awareness in the community.

First, I provided educational outreach to people hiking in the mountains by introducing World Sleep Day and sharing sleep health recommendations developed by sleep organizations. This activity aimed to increase public awareness about the importance of good sleep habits.

Second, I created an educational video using AI tools to share practical tips on improving sleep quality. The video was distributed online to reach a wider audience and provide accessible sleep health education.

Finally, I organized and delivered a training session for police shift workers focused on the prevention of sleep disorders. The training highlighted the risks associated with shift work and provided practical strategies to improve sleep quality and overall well-being.
