Launching of the First National Guidelines on Obstructive Sleep Apnea prepared by multidisciplinary team conducted by professor Victor Botnaru, coauthored by doctor Alexandru Corlateanu, doctor Victoria Sircu is important step in development of sleep medicine in Moldova. Guidelines is endorsed by Ministry of Health and will change local situation in diagnosis and management of sleep apnea. In Moldova sleep apnea is underdiagnosed, underestimated and undertreated!

Short Bio: Dr. Corlateanu is the Associate Professor at Department of Respiratory medicine at State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu”, Chisinau, Moldova. He is National Leader for Moldova at The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) and member of the The Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) Assembly for Moldova. He has written over 50 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters. He is a reviewer for multiple reputed journals in the field of respiratory diseases and the Assistant Editor for Current Respiratory Medicine Reviews and the Associate Editor for COPD Research and Practice. Alexandru Corlateanu contributed to the launch of one of the first sleep laboratories in his home country in 2013, while his main research areas are obstructive respiratory diseases and sleep related disorders of breathing. Alexandru Corlateanu served as Guest Editor of hot topic issue of Current Respiratory Medicine Reviews dedicated to Sleep apnea and comorbidities.
