Short Bio: Ms. Navamani a/p Nagappon holds a Master’s degree in Education (Hons) with a specialization in Guidance and Counselling from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She is a registered counsellor with over 10 years of experience in counselling and guidance services, having handled more than 1,000 counselling cases. Additionally, she is a certified Leonard Personality Inventory (LPI) Trainer and Psychotherapist, with experience conducting over 50 LPI training sessions and consultations.
Currently, Ms. Navamani serves as the Unit Leader and Counsellor at the Centre for Healthy Minds and Wellbeing, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). She has been actively involved in organising various mental health promotion activities and events. She has also conducted career exploration and career guidance talks for the public.With extensive experience in crisis intervention, Ms. Navamani has handled numerous crisis cases, providing urgent counselling support to those in need.
Ms. Navamani specializes in personal development, leadership skills, and intrapersonal and interpersonal growth, helping students enhance their potential through various training programs and supervision. She is also dedicated to developing peer helping skills, educating students on self-exploration, self-care, mental health awareness, and basic counselling techniques. As a counsellor supervisor, she mentors students to become peer counsellors and provides guidance in their roles.
Furthermore, Ms. Navamani has organise Young Leaders Conference 2018 and contributed to the International Mindfulness Conference 2020. Additionally, she collaborated with the Malaysian Association of Social Workers (MASW) for an online webinar in July 2021, promoting intergenerational harmony and well-being in families and society. She has also served as a panel speaker alongside Dr. Tripat Deep Singh, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Izuanuddin Ismail, and Dr. Tarun Amalnerkar for Snooze – To Escape the Blues on World Sleep Day (19 March 2021). She has also continued her advocacy for sleep health by organising the World Sleep Day Webinars in 2023 and 2024.
Activity: The initiative aims to promote psychological well-being, mindfulness, and physical health among the broader community, including secondary school teachers and students. It also seeks to discuss preventive measures and promotional strategies for addressing sleep-related issues while enhancing awareness and knowledge of sleep disorders and their impact on daily life.
