Short Bio: I graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Padua, specialised in General Surgery at the University of Verona, carried out research activities at the Renal Transplant and Dialysis Centre of the Verona Hospital and as Research Fellow at the State University New York – Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Head of Pharmacovigilance at Glaxo spa (GlaxoWellcome, GlaxoSmithKline) since 1984, I subsequently held the positions of Clinical Research Director and Coordinator of New Product Development at the Verona Research and Development Centre. From 1993 until December 2018 held the role of Vice President, Medical & Scientific Director GSK Italy.
In January 2019 he co-founded daVinci Digital Therapeutics, Italy’s first innovative startup for the research, development and commercialisation of digital therapies. In 2021, he co-founded the innovative startups DigitalRehab and daVi DigitalMedicine. With the latter startup in particular, I am involved in the research and development of a Digital Therapeutics candidate for arterial hypertension (in collaboration with Polifarma spa), a Digital Therapeutics candidate for chronic insomnia (in collaboration with the University of Verona) and a Digital Therapeutics candidate for motor rehabilitation (DigitalRehab srl).
I am a lecturer on Digital Health and digital technologies for health at the 2nd Level Master in Pharmacovigilance, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacoeconomics and Real World Evidence at the University of Verona and at the 2nd Level Master Alta Scuola di Economia e Management dei Sistemi Sanitari – ALTEMS at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome.
I am a lecturer in the Digital Health and Therapeutics elective course of the Master of Biotechnology at the Tor Vergata University of Rome.
I am advisor and Vice President of Fondazione Tendenze Salute Sanità (formerly the Smith Kline Foundation) and editor of the journal Tendenze Nuove.

Sleep, between well-being and illness – Digital technologies for sleep and insomnia

As we celebrate World Sleep Day 2025, the conference ‘Sleep, Between Wellbeing and Illness – Digital Technologies for Sleep and Insomnia’ will be held, a key event to raise awareness and inform the public about the importance of sleep for health and wellbeing, as well as the new frontiers of technology applied to the treatment of sleep disorders.
The conference aims to:
• Raise awareness: Draw attention to the importance of quality sleep for physical and mental health, in line with the goals of World Sleep Day.
• Inform: Provide up-to-date information on the causes, symptoms and consequences of sleep disorders, with a special focus on insomnia.
• Explore: Present the latest digital technologies for the assessment, monitoring and treatment of sleep disorders, with a specific focus on digital therapies for insomnia.
• Promote: To disseminate good practices to improve sleep quality and prevent the onset of disorders.
• Create: An opportunity for experts, researchers, clinicians and the interested public to meet and discuss.
The conference will address the following topics
• Introduction to World Sleep Day 2025: Presentation of the theme and objectives of World Sleep Day.
• Sleep and insomnia between wellness and disease: Discussion on the importance of sleep for health and wellness, with a focus on the definition, symptoms and consequences of insomnia.
• Sleep and Work – Digital Technologies for Health – Digital Therapies for Insomnia 2025: Insight into the link between sleep and work performance, presentation of digital technologies for monitoring and improving sleep, with a focus on digital therapies for insomnia.
• Sleep wellbeing – The Selene project: Presentation of an innovative project to promote sleep wellbeing through the use of digital technologies.
• Chronic Insomnia Therapy – The NyxDigital project: Presentation of a research project on digital therapy for chronic insomnia.
• Discussion: Space dedicated to discussion and debate between experts and the audience on the topics discussed.
