Delegate: Indonesia Sleep Society (PERDOKTIN)
Delegate Short Bio: PERDOKTIN (Indonesia Sleep Society) is a national professional organization dedicated to advancing sleep medicine and promoting sleep health awareness across Indonesia. The society brings together multidisciplinary healthcare professionals committed to improving the prevention, early detection, and management of sleep disorders through education, research, and community-based initiatives.
Scope of Activity: Campaign
Activity: In celebration of World Sleep Day 2026, PERDOKTIN (Indonesia Sleep Society) conducted a comprehensive nationwide program aimed at improving sleep health awareness, strengthening healthcare capacity, and expanding access to early detection of sleep disorders.
Recognizing that sleep disorders remain underdiagnosed and underrecognized—despite their significant impact on cardiovascular, metabolic, and mental health—this initiative adopted a multi-faceted and multidisciplinary approach targeting both the general public and healthcare professionals.
The program was delivered through a multidisciplinary collaboration involving neurologists, pulmonologists and respiratory medicine specialists, otorhinolaryngologists (ENT specialists), pediatricians, internists, cardiologists, psychiatrists, dentists and oral health specialists, anesthesiologists, and nutritionists, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated approach to sleep health.
The program consisted of four main integrated activities:
1. Community Service: Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT)
A community-based screening program using Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT Type 4) was implemented to facilitate early detection of sleep-disordered breathing, particularly in underserved areas with limited access to polysomnography services. The program included device deployment and operational support, enabling broader access to diagnostic services while increasing awareness of sleep apnea at the community level.
2. Public Education through Digital Platforms (Instagram Live)
A series of live educational sessions titled “Ngabuburit with PERDOKTIN” were conducted twice weekly throughout March 2026. These sessions engaged the public in interactive discussions on sleep hygiene, common sleep disorders, and healthy sleep practices. Delivered in an accessible and engaging format, this initiative significantly expanded outreach and improved public literacy on sleep health.
3. Scientific Webinar for Healthcare Professionals
A two-day national scientific webinar (27–28 March 2026) was conducted to enhance the knowledge and clinical competence of healthcare providers in sleep medicine. The program featured multidisciplinary experts and covered topics such as obstructive sleep apnea, sleep disorders across the lifespan, mental health-related sleep disturbances, and cardiovascular implications of sleep. Interactive case discussions were also included to support practical clinical application.
4. Public Awareness Campaign at Car Free Day Events
Public engagement activities were conducted simultaneously in multiple cities, including Jakarta, Manado, Padang, and Semarang. These activities involved direct education, distribution of informational materials, and face-to-face interaction with the community, promoting awareness of sleep health and encouraging healthy sleep behaviors.
Through this integrated national campaign, PERDOKTIN aimed to promote the global message of “Sleep Well, Live Better” by combining scientific education, community outreach, and public engagement. The initiative successfully increased awareness, improved access to early screening, and strengthened collaboration among healthcare professionals in advancing sleep health in Indonesia.
Location: Indonesia
