Short Bio:

Activity: Sleep is a critical component of children’s growth and development. Unfortunately, research indicates that a significant percentage of babies and children, ranging from 20% to 40%, suffer from poor sleep quality, with associated sleep problems, such as frequent awakenings during the night, difficulty falling asleep, and an inability to sleep independently. It is imperative to address these sleep-related issues to ensure optimal health and well-being.

Sleep training is a method that facilitates more regular and longer periods of sleep, which benefits both children and parents. However, in Indonesia, there has been a dearth of research into sleep training, and little is known about maternal knowledge or behavior concerning child sleep. To address this gap, we conducted a survey on March 29, 2024, in a densely populated area of East Jakarta City, Indonesia. We surveyed 100 mothers of children aged 3-36 years old to collect data on their knowledge and behavior related to sleep training methods. Our primary objective was to obtain information on maternal knowledge about sleep training and their behavior in applying sleep training methods to children under 3 years of age. We hope that the data gathered will contribute to a better understanding of maternal behavior related to child sleep training in Indonesia.
