Scope of Activity: Individual activity
Activity: As part of World Sleep Day 2026, I led and organized a comprehensive, multi-phase sleep awareness initiative at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, aligned with the global theme “Sleep Well, Live Better.”
This initiative was designed as a structured outreach program conducted over a two-week period from March 1 to March 17, 2026, culminating in a large-scale World Sleep Day event on March 17, 2026.
During the pre-event phase, focused awareness activities were conducted to disseminate the neuroscience of sleep and the importance of sleep hygiene. These efforts included engagement with students, Junior Research Fellows (JRFs), and the academic community, creating a ripple effect of peer-driven awareness and knowledge sharing with patients of NIMHANS too.
As the main organizer, I coordinated and led the execution of the World Sleep Day program, which included scientific sessions, interactive discussions, and public engagement activities. A key component of this initiative was the development and presentation of an awareness video, designed to translate complex sleep science into accessible, visually engaging content for a wider audience.
Additionally, I actively involved students and research trainees in organizing and participating in awareness activities, including poster presentations and educational interactions, thereby fostering academic engagement and capacity building in sleep health advocacy. There was multiple quiz sessions done with multiple tires of participants which I conducted.
This initiative was not limited to a single-day event but functioned as a sustained awareness campaign, integrating scientific knowledge dissemination with community outreach.
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka
Date of Activity: 1st March 2026 – 17th March 2026
