Successful CME Organized on World Sleep Day & Opening of Sleep OPD
On the occasion of World Sleep Day, the Department of Kriya Sharir at Divya Jyoti Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on 13 March 2026 to promote awareness about the importance of sleep and healthy sleep practices among students and healthcare professionals.
The programme commenced with Dhanvantari Vandana and ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by a welcome address highlighting the significance of adequate and quality sleep in maintaining overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Scientific sessions covered diverse aspects of sleep science, including sleep physiology, respiratory health, neurobiology of sleep, Ayurvedic concepts of Nidra, and the management of sleep disorders. These sessions provided an integrative understanding of sleep from both modern and Ayurvedic perspectives.
A significant highlight of the day was the official opening of World Sleep Day awareness activities, aimed at educating students, faculty members, hospital staff, and the nearby community about the importance of healthy sleep habits. Various awareness initiatives were conducted to emphasize the impact of sleep on overall health and to encourage preventive practices.
Another major milestone was the inauguration of the dedicated Sleep OPD (Outpatient Department) by the Department of Kriya Sharir. The Sleep OPD has been established to provide specialized consultation, early diagnosis, and holistic management of sleep-related disorders such as insomnia and lifestyle-induced sleep disturbances. The OPD integrates Ayurvedic principles, particularly the concept of Nidra, with modern approaches to deliver comprehensive patient care and will serve both institutional members and the surrounding community.
Student participation added vibrancy to the event through a Sleep Quiz Competition and an E-Poster Presentation Session. The winners were felicitated during the CME programme, encouraging academic engagement and awareness.
The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals. The combined efforts of organizing the CME, initiating awareness activities, and launching the Sleep OPD marked a meaningful step toward promoting sleep health and holistic well-being in the community.
