Scope of Activity: Enduring program
Activity: To commemorate World Sleep Day 2026, the Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care at AIIMS Bhubaneswar conducted a structured academic program focusing on sleep-disordered breathing. This enduring educational initiative comprised multiple sessions held between March 24 and March 31, 2026.
The program covered key areas, including phenotypic classification of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), comprehensive evaluation and management of obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS), and non-positive airway pressure (non-PAP) therapeutic strategies for OSA.
The primary objective was to enhance awareness and build clinical expertise among postgraduate trainees and faculty in the diagnosis and management of sleep-related breathing disorders. The sessions emphasized evidence-based practice, individualized patient care, and recent advances in sleep medicine.
The activity fostered interactive learning, case-based discussions, and multidisciplinary engagement, ultimately aiming to improve patient outcomes and promote the integration of sleep medicine into routine pulmonary practice.
