Activity: SleepMed organized World Sleep Day Activities to raise awareness among the public under the theme “Make Sleep Health a Priority.” We targeted various groups with six different activities, including Bank Employees, College Students (Early Adults), Medical College students to promote Sleep Health awareness, Corporate IT Professionals at their offices, and a comic video on YouTube addressing Sleep Apnea.

Activity 1 – We launched the “World Sleep Day – Sleep Awareness Program” on March 12, centered around the theme “Make Sleep Health a Priority.” During the presentation, we covered various topics related to sleep, including sleep health, the importance of sleep, circadian rhythms, sleep stages, how to assess “good sleep,” sleep deprivation and disorders, sleep in women, sleep hygiene, and the impact of sleep on work performance at the bank, highlighting both the positives and negatives.

I also introduced some financial terms related to sleep, such as SIP – “Sleep Investment Plan.” We explored how these concepts could connect to their sleep patterns and discussed strategies for improvement. Additionally, we provided Sleep Hygiene Cards to all employees.

Activity 2 – 2nd Sleep Awareness Program in Celebration of World Sleep Day – March 13th
Sleep is essential for individuals of all ages and genders. Today, we visited Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in Bangalore, where I discussed the importance of sleep with young adults.
Raising awareness about sleep health among this demographic is crucial. Young adults today face numerous challenges, including digital distractions, mental health issues, academic pressure, career stress, and exposure to various substances. As they prepare to transition into adulthood and take on jobs and family responsibilities, they need to establish healthy habits early on to enhance their overall well-being.
We also provided Sleep Hygiene Cards to all the students.

Activity 3 – Reflecting on an Eye-Opening World Sleep Day Event – March 14th. We had an incredible session on World Sleep Day at the Department of Biotechnology, Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT), Bangalore. We delivered an insightful guest lecture and awareness session on the following topics:
1. “Innovative Sleep Solutions: The Science Behind Sleep and Its Impact on Daily Life”
2. “Sleep Matters: Understanding Sleep Health and the Importance of Sleep” for Young Adults.
The session effectively debunked common myths about sleep and highlighted its crucial role in cognitive function and overall well-being. Participants left with a newfound appreciation for healthy sleep habits. The interactive discussions and expert insights made the experience engaging and valuable for everyone who attended.
Additionally, we provided Sleep Hygiene Cards to all the students.

Activity 4 – We conducted a two-day Continuous Medical Education (CME) program at BGS Hospital in Bangalore, organized by the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, focusing on Sleep and Sleep Diagnostics. The program took place on March 13th and 14th and aimed to educate Respiratory Therapists, postgraduate doctors, and pulmonologists about Sleep Health. Topics covered included Sleep Physiology, Sleep Disorders, Polysomnography, Manual Scoring, and Treatment Devices. The program featured workshops and hands-on training as well.

Activity 5 –
On World Sleep Day, March 14th, we hosted an awareness program on Sleep Health at MicroGenesis on Old Airport Road, Bangalore. Sixty people attended the event in person, while over fifty participated online.
“Sleep Matters: Understanding Sleep Health and the Importance of Sleep”
Key Takeaways:
– Sleep is not a luxury; it is a necessity for peak performance.
– Sleep plays a crucial role in productivity, significantly affecting both individual performance and organizational success.
– Adequate sleep improves overall health, which is vital for working professionals.
By recognizing the important connection between sleep and productivity, both employers and employees can work together to create a more efficient, safe, and healthy work environment.
Additionally, we provided Sleep Hygiene Cards to all employees.

Activity 6 –
The final activity planned for World Sleep Day involved the release of an awareness video about sleep apnea presented in a comedic style. The video was shared on various platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) poses a significant public health challenge in India, highlighting the urgent need for attention from healthcare providers and policymakers to improve both diagnosis and treatment options for affected individuals. Effective public awareness campaigns and accessible healthcare services are crucial for managing this growing epidemic. Approximately 104 million working-age individuals in India suffer from OSA, with 47 million experiencing moderate to severe forms of the disorder.
