Short Bio: Dr. N.Ramakrishnan is a Healthcare Entrepreneur who is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine & Sleep Medicine and also has a Master’s degree in Medical Management from University of Southern California. He is currently the Director of Critical Care Services at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai and is a Senior Consultant in Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He was the first Board Certified Sleep Specialist to practice in India and established Nithra Institute of Sleep Sciences (www.nithra.com ) in 2004. Dr. Ramakrishnan graduated from Stanley Medical College, India and subsequently worked in United Kingdom and USA for over 13 years. He returned to India in 2003 as he was keen on ‘making a difference by bringing innovative solutions in healthcare’ and has several firsts to his credit.
He has been honored with fellowship by American College of Physicians, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Critical Care Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Indian College of Critical Care Medicine and Indian Sleep Disorders Association. He also served as Vice Chancellor of Indian College of Critical Care Medicine & President of Indian Sleep Disorders Association. Dr. Ramakrishnan has received prestigious awards including ‘Best Doctor Award’ from Indian Medical Association and Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University and Indian 2 Medical Association, ‘Young Achiever Award’ from Vaishnav Group of Institutions, Presidential Citation awards from Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine for contributions in Critical Care Medicine and ‘Vocational Excellence Award’ from Rotary Club and ‘Acharya Award’ for contributions to healthcare education. He is a respected teacher and an invited speaker in several national and international medical conferences. He has also authored four books in Tamil for the public addressing issues relating to ICU, Sleep and Organ Donation. He was also invited to meet the then honorable president of India, Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam who appreciated his contributions in the field of Critical Care & Sleep Medicine.

Activity: On account of World Sleep Day, Nithra organized an art competition for school students a, emphasizing on the theme “Making Sleep Health a Priority”. The competition was categorized into three groups: Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3.

Group 1: Grade I to V
Group 2: Grade VI to VIII
Group 3: Grade IX to XII
We received an overwhelming response with numerous entries, showcasing the creativity and talent of our young participants. This initiative has not only encouraged creativity but also spread awareness about the importance of prioritizing sleep health.
