Short Bio: Dr. MANVIR BHATIA is a Senior Neurologist and Sleep Specialist with > 20 years of experience. Dr.Manvir is Director of Sleep Medicine and Senior Neurologist at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute-New Delhi and Neurology Sleep Centre, New Delhi. She is currently the Vice President of Indian society of Sleep research. She is the author of the book-“The Sleep Solution” first non-fiction book on sleep, in India.
She also started the first sleep clinic and sleep laboratory under Neuro-Sciences at AIIMS. She has been a pioneer in creating awareness about Sleep Disorders and establishing the role of Sleep Medicine in the country.
She was invited by the WHO to participate in developing guidelines for health issues related to ‘Sleep’. She has been awarded the Indira Gandhi Mahila Ratan Award & has won the best prize for “10,000 women Entrepreneur Certificate Programmed at ISB”, Hyderabad. She has also been awarded by AAPIOS (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, Boston, for “Extraordinary Contribution in Sleep Medicine” for the year 2017, for increasing the awareness of sleep medicine throughout, research and training of sleep experts in India. She is a member of International and National organizations on Neurology and Sleep also, has delivered lectures and orations in conferences.

Activity: We Organised a 2nd Patient Forum to Celebrate World Sleep Day. This include a talk,interactive session and prizes. There were 60 people who attended. Dr. Manvir Bhatia gave an introductory speech on World Sleep Day(WSD), What is WSD, Why is it celebrated etc. This was followed by explanation of role of sleep in memory.The Nobel Prize for discovery of genes for circadian rhythm and its disorder were highlighted. Concept of Sleep Apnea Support Group , uses, why to form etc was highlighted. Information given on newer development like Sleep Apps-different apps available for measuring sleep, snoring, wearable and non-wearable were discussed. There were attractive prizes for categories of “Who is the longest CPAP User”, “Maximum weight loss after use of CPAP”, “Impact of CPAP on personal life.” Feedback from patient were taken and “The Sleep Solution” book by Dr. Manvir Bhatia was handed over to the patients. The feedback obtained were excellent and encouraging. The program was highly appreciated and ended with announcement of similar program next year.
