Short Bio: Managing Director of the Budapest Centre for Sleep, Honorary Associate Professor, and editor-in-chief of Orvosi Hírek [Medical News]. Under his direction, they were among the first to join the World Association of Sleep Medicine programme in Budapest in 2020. In Hungary, they were the first who could realise cooperation between scientific dissemination related to sleep, the different institutions and professionals of the sleep industry, and others who attach great importance to sleep. As partners of the World Association of Sleep Medicine and the World Sleep Society, they introduced the World Sleep Day events to Hungary and ensured that the events are of high quality. They built a broad social basis for this important field. On the basis of international standards, they developed new methods for measuring sleep quality, and they conduct national research and surveys on sleep quality. They created methods which bring new aspects in health and occupational health screening to, among other things, prevent accidents caused by drivers falling asleep. Their doctors and healthcare professionals work in a team. They were among the first who was awarded the Distinguished Activity Award by the World Association of Sleep Medicine. György G. Németh received the award in person at the World Sleep Congress in Valencia in 2013. The president is a university lecturer, he regularly publishes articles on the subject of sleeping, furthermore, he was the editor-in-chief of the Magyar alváskönyv [Hungarian Sleep Book] published in 2019.

Activity: World Sleep Day has been organised in Hungary for 12 years, and in Hungary, it is the most significant scientific knowledge-sharing forum related to the field. The events held in the scientific centre of the country, at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, attract significant professional and media interest. Sleepfriendly Programme has been established as well, and under the programme, the best company, products, and hotels which provide high-quality help to achieve better sleep in relation to a healthy lifestyle are rated and given recognition every year. They conduct scientific research on the state of sleep quality among the Hungarian people, publish the Annual Sleep Report of Hungary, and coordinate and support the companies in the sleep industry to strengthen the sleep culture in Hungary. They provide professional materials and information to the media, have strong social base, and the Hungarian health government bodies support their work.
