Scope of Activity: Campaign
Activity: The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in the Czech Republic ran a nationwide Sleep Month awareness campaign in March 2026, aligned with World Sleep Day’s theme “Sleep Well, Live Better.” The campaign reached 5.02 million people through media and over 360,800 through social media, meaning more than every second citizen in our country of 10 million was exposed to sleep health messaging. The initiative combined public health advocacy on the impact of outdoor lighting, evidence-based sleep education, and intensive multi-platform communication.
The campaign’s results demonstrate exceptional reach and engagement across key population groups. Media coverage spanned major national online, print, radio, and television outlets, while social media posts focused on children’s and adolescents’ sleep, sleep in menopause, circadian rhythms, and practical sleep hygiene. In total, 51 media outputs and over 360,800 social media views ensured that both the general public and professional audiences repeatedly encountered clear, accessible information on healthy sleep and sleep disorders.
The campaign specifically targeted the general Czech population, parents, teachers and health professionals. Particular attention was paid to school age children and adolescents, women in midlife, and citizens affected by changes in public lighting and evening light exposure. The campaign culminated in a nationwide conference for school prevention specialists in the capital city, bringing together representatives from across the Czech Republic and strengthening long term sleep health promotion in schools.
