Activity: This year we decided to bring World Sleep Day to the Parliament of the Czech Republic. In cooperation with the Health Committee of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, we organized a round table on the topic of sleep and its importance for physical and mental health. We invited leading sleep medicine experts from neurologists, psychiatrists, pulmonologists and obesitologists to discuss the topic. One of the subjects was also the long delay in making a correct diagnosis in sleep disorders and the low number of teaching hours dedicated to sleep medicine in medical faculties. Furthermore, we discussed with the MPs how the Czechs are doing with sleep disorders and sleep habits in terms of international comparison. Last but not least, we discussed the role that public institutions can play. The event had a significant national reach, a press release was issued and the event was broadcast on national TV and could be watched live.
