Activity: Firstly, we organised an event for general public that consisted of series of lectures that covered various topics related to sleep, emphasising circadian rhythms and specific influence of these rhythms on everyday life. We particularly focused on the concept of personal chronotypes and put them into context of social factors, such as exposure to blue light or jet-lag. Two of the lectures were devoted to the role of clinicians in diagnostic process and treatment of sleep disorders, emphasising the importance of multidisciplinary approach and available treatment options, both psycho-therapeutic and pharmacological. In order to promote personal interest into sleep and sleep issues, we gave the audience an opportunity to discuss their individual concerns with our clinicians
Secondly, in order to promote the topic and emphasise the importance of sleep and good sleep hygiene for well-being in more general public settings, we produced a short video showing this in more accessible way, depicting a story of a young man who suffered from poor sleep and consequences related to that. As we believe in the role of prevention and learning in establishing the appropriate sleep stereotypes, adolescents and young adults were the main, though not the only target of this initiative:
Thirdly, we produced the information sheets with basic sleep hygiene rules and their specificity in adolescence or pregnancy that are available freely on our website:
Finally, we made a media appearance by giving talks for television and newsletters, which could be found on the following websites.
