Activity: Webinar “Sleep is essential for mental health in adolescents (and why are teens always sleepy)”
Hosted by Adrijana Košćec Bjelajac, PhD and Patricia Tomac, MA from the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health, Zagreb, Croatia
Webinar will be open for public, however it is primarily intended for the school principals, teachers, psychologists, pedagogues, speech therapists and other professionals in schools that participate in the ongoing study within the PyrOPECh research project (https://pyropech.imi.hr).
The main objective of the PyrOPECh project is to investigate potential adverse effects of dietary exposure to pyrethroid and organophosphate insecticides on neuropsychological development and hormonal status in puberty. Given the importance of sleep and circadian rhythms for everyday functioning and development, as well as changes that occur during that developmental period, in our study a special attention is given to sleep characteristics, sleep patterns, and circadian preferences and daytime functioning of adolescents. Sleep and circadian parameters are both assessed and methodologically controlled for. The PyrOPECh project is funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ IP-2019-04-7193).
