Delegate: AIpocrates
Delegate Short Bio: AIpocrates is a think tank focused on Artificial Intelligence and Health, built from medicine and for medicine. Founded on June 26, 2021, in commemoration of Alan Turing’s birth and following an open call to healthcare enthusiasts, it brings together a multidisciplinary group of professionals committed to exploring the impact of exponential technologies in healthcare.
In its current version, AIpocrates is composed of approximately 30 professionals from diverse fields, including medicine, nursing, optometry, and pharmaceutical chemistry. As a non-profit and inspirational organization, it fosters collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking to advance the integration of AI into clinical practice and health systems.
Scope of Activity: Individual activity
Activity: As part of the World Sleep Day 2026 initiatives, AIpocrates contributed through the publication of a thought leadership column titled “Innovation in Sleep Medicine in Colombia”, authored by Leslie Vargas, President of the Colombian Association of Sleep Medicine (ACMES).
The column highlighted the ongoing transformation of sleep medicine, emphasizing the transition from a highly specialized, laboratory-based field to a more integrated, predictive, and technology-driven discipline. It underscored the role of sleep as a key biomarker of overall health and the impact of artificial intelligence in enabling early detection, risk prediction, and personalized care.
Additionally, the article positioned Colombia as a unique ecosystem for innovation, outlining opportunities such as the decentralization of diagnosis through home-based technologies, the use of AI to analyze complex sleep data, and the integration of digital health tools to improve treatment adherence.
Through this publication, AIpocrates reinforced its role as a knowledge platform, promoting critical reflection and advancing the positioning of sleep medicine as a public health priority in the context of emerging technologies.
