Delegate Short Bio: Established in 2009, the Sleep Center of the Neurological Specialty Hospital of the First Hospital of Jilin University is a leading, internationally certified facility dedicated to the comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and research of sleep disorders. Led by Professor Wang Zan, the multidisciplinary team has treated over 80,000 patients utilizing advanced subjective and objective evaluation methods, including polysomnography for over 10,000 cases.
Beyond high-quality clinical care, the center is highly active in academic research, undertaking numerous national grants and publishing over 100 papers. By frequently hosting national academic conferences and international exchange programs, the center plays a pivotal role in advancing regional sleep medicine and promoting public sleep health education.
Scope of Activity: Individual activity
Activity: The 2026 World Sleep Day Science Popularization Lecture and National Free Clinic Activity, themed “Quality Sleep, Better Life” was successfully held to focus on the public’s sleep health issues. Led by Professor Wang Zan, Director of the Sleep Center of the Neurological Specialty Hospital of the First Hospital of Jilin University, the event provided professional sleep health guidance for citizens through a combination of science popularization lectures and charitable free clinics.
During the educational lecture, Professor Wang elaborated on the physiological significance of different sleep stages, explaining how deep sleep (N3 stage) is crucial for physical recovery, tissue repair, and immunity, while the REM stage facilitates emotional calming and memory consolidation. He emphasized that sleep deprivation or imbalanced sleep proportions can lead to memory decline, emotional fluctuations, and chronic diseases.
To address these complex sleep issues, a multidisciplinary team of authoritative experts was assembled, including specialists from neurology, pediatrics, mental health, the stroke center, obesity diagnosis, otorhinolaryngology, and cardiovascular medicine. These experts provided free, one-on-one consultations, carefully inquiring about patients’ conditions and offering personalized diagnosis and treatment plans for issues such as insomnia, snoring, and sleep rhythm disorders. By breaking the barriers of traditional departments, this activity provided precise medical services, aiming to safeguard public sleep health and elevate national health literacy.
