Delegate Short Bio: The Sleep Center of Chengdu Fifth People’s Hospital is a multidisciplinary clinical and academic platform dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, education, and research of sleep disorders. The Center promotes integrated sleep care through collaboration among specialists in sleep medicine, respiratory medicine, neurology, psychiatry, psychology, traditional Chinese medicine, and related disciplines. It is actively engaged in public education, academic exchange, and the advancement of sleep health awareness in western China.
Scope of Activity: Campaign
Activity: For ‘World Sleep Day 2027’, the Sleep Center of Chengdu Fifth People’s Hospital plans to host a citywide campaign under the theme ‘Panda Loves Sleep’ Centered on public benefit, scientific education, and academic exchange, the campaign will include the following four major activities:
1. Large-Scale World Sleep Day Free Clinic
A large multidisciplinary free clinic will be organized with the participation of sleep medicine experts from Chengdu municipal hospitals. Specialists from related disciplines will provide one-stop consultation, screening, risk assessment, and evidence-based guidance for people with sleep problems, including insomnia, sleep apnea, circadian rhythm disorders, hypersomnia, and sleep problems associated with chronic disease. The event will also include on-site health education to improve public awareness and promote early recognition and standardized management of sleep disorders.
2.World Sleep Day Popular Science Series with Online Live Streaming:
A series of public education activities will be carried out around the theme “Panda Loves Sleep,” combining offline popular science sessions with live-streamed broadcasts through online media platforms. Experts will share practical and accessible knowledge on healthy sleep habits, common sleep disorders, children’s and adolescent sleep, women’s sleep health, elderly sleep, mental health and sleep, and the role of traditional Chinese and integrated medicine in sleep care. Through online dissemination, the campaign aims to expand its reach beyond the hospital and engage a broader public audience.
3. Sino-British Sleep Medicine Forum
An international academic forum will be convened to promote dialogue and collaboration between Chinese and British experts in sleep medicine. The forum will focus on current advances in sleep disorder diagnosis and treatment, multidisciplinary models of care, digital and tele-sleep medicine, sleep health management, and future opportunities for international cooperation. The event is intended to strengthen global academic exchange while bringing international perspectives to local clinical practice and public health work.
4.Annual Academic Conference of the Multidisciplinary Committee on Sleep Disorders of the Sichuan Association of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine:
The annual academic conference will gather clinicians, researchers, and allied health professionals from multiple specialties to discuss the latest progress in integrated traditional Chinese and western approaches to sleep medicine. Topics will include clinical diagnosis and treatment pathways, difficult and complex cases, multidisciplinary collaboration, chronic disease management, sleep-related mental health issues, and translation of research into practice. The conference will further promote regional academic development and improve the quality of sleep medicine services. Through these activities, the campaign aims to raise public awareness of sleep health, improve access to professional consultation, strengthen multidisciplinary and international collaboration, and advance the development of sleep medicine in Chengdu, Sichuan, and beyond.
