Delegate: Fang Han

Delegate Short Bio: Professor Fang Han is a leading expert in sleep medicine and currently serves as Director of the Department of Sleep Medicine at Peking University People’ s Hospital, Director of the Peking University Sleep Research Center, and Secretary General of the World Sleep Society. He focuses on sleep disorders, narcolepsy, and sleep apnea. With over 200 publications, he has made important contributions to clinical research, tele-sleep medicine, and guideline development. He is also widely engaged in public education, promoting greater awareness of sleep health and sleep disorders.

Scope of Activity: Campaign

Activity: From March 20 to 21, 2026, the Department of Sleep Medicine at Peking University People’s Hospital organized a series of public-interest activities for World Sleep Day under the theme “Sleep Well, Better Life”, focusing on the prevention and management of rare sleep disorders and the promotion of public sleep health. The specific activities were as follows:

1.Multi-disciplinary Free Clinic
A multidisciplinary team( including the Department of Sleep Medicine, Geriatrics, Medical Psychology, and Traditional Chinese Medicine) provided one-stop health consultation, risk assessment and evidence-based guidance for the public with sleep health needs, together with on-site science education to improve public awareness and scientific understanding of sleep health.

2.Narcolepsy Public Welfare Art Exhibition
Original artworks created by patients were exhibited to reflect the real life and resilience of people living with narcolepsy, convey humanistic care, enhance social inclusion, and promote public awareness and understanding of such conditions.

3.Special Session on Rare Sleep Disorders
Professional sharing and public engagement were held on narcolepsy, with the participation of sleep medicine experts and patient representatives. The event presented clinical advances and practices, and expanded social influence through media coverage to raise public awareness of rare sleep disorders.

4.Online Sleep Health Live Streams
Authoritative online popular science sessions were held to disseminate knowledge on healthy sleep, prevention of sleep disorders and rare diseases. Real-time responses to public concerns broke geographical restrictions and extended the reach of health education.

 

The series of activities was professional, diverse and public-oriented, achieving positive social effects.
