Activity: Workshop entitled: “Problems that make you ‘lose sleep’: thinking together about personal (dis)organization, procrastination, anxiety and use of digital media”
This workshop brought together 30 people (students and their families) to share their difficulties and strategies to deal with the problems that lead to sleep deprivation.
The workshop lasted 8 hours and consisted of four moments of interaction: In the first, participants exchanged experiences in pairs, in a reciprocal listening activity. The other activities were in groups of 4 or 5 people, in which the problems that lead to sleep deprivation were discussed and strategies to overcome these difficulties were shared.
An interesting observation: in one of the moments of the workshop, the participants were invited to make a list of their priorities in life and build a daily schedule of typical activities. Interestingly, the “priorities” did not appear in the timelines. Our daily activities do not reflect our priorities. We are spending time on things that are stealing our sleep and our best dreams.
The results of the workshop are difficult to objectify, but we could see that several of the participating students, who were already in the process of dropping out of school, remained in their courses after the workshop.
