Delegate: Luca Frantzmann – Future Health Lab
Delegate Short Bio: Future Health Lab is an innovation centre advancing the public provision of healthcare in Austria.
At Future Health Lab, key stakeholders are joining forces to develop common solutions to key challenges that no organization can overcome alone.
Public institutions, leading companies, interest groups, and patient representatives, healthcare professionals, innovators, and research institutions come together in new collaboration formats — without bureaucracy, in a protected space, and at eye level.
Scope of Activity: Campaign of multiple activities
Activity: Building on the seven socio-political recommendations developed together with the Austrian Society for Sleep Medicine (ÖGSM) in 2024, Future Health Lab – supported by Idorsia – continued its mission in 2025 to strengthen sleep health as a public health priority in Austria.
To put the recommendations into action, Future Health Lab, together with the ÖGSM co-developed a training concept for occupational physicians. Occupation physicians co-created this offer and sparred their expertise on how to best approach the topic in a workplace setting. This program – planned to be offered by ÖGSM in the future – aims to integrate sleep health more systematically into occupational medicine and workplace prevention.
Further, Future Health Lab hosted the consecutive 3rd Sleep Innovation Forum, which focused on bringing existing initiatives in Austria to the forefront and deepening dialogue with representatives of the public healthcare system.
In 2026, the Future Health Lab will continue engaging with political stakeholders to ensure that sleep health is recognized as a strategic priority in national health and prevention agendas. The goal is to anchor sleep disorders as a central public health issue and to support the implementation of the recommendations developed through the multi-stakeholder process.
A new project will also be launched in 2026, dedicated to women’s sleep health. Together with women and healthcare professionals, the project aims to find opportunities to raise awareness of sleep and sleep health among women, addressing gender-specific differences in sleep disorders and providing guidance for women to find support in that matter.
This ongoing initiative remains a joint effort of the Future Health Lab and Idorsia. Together with partners across the healthcare system, science, and civil society, the aim is to translate insights into concrete, collaborative action – for healthier sleep and improved quality of life for everyone living in Austria.
