Scope of Activity: Enduring program
Activity: At The Langham, Sydney, World Sleep Day is more than date on the calendar, it is an opportunity to gently remind our community that rest is essential to living well. Each year, we create meaningful experiences centred around practical and sustainable ways to improve sleep and overall wellbeing.
On 13 March, embracing the theme “Sleep Well, Live Better,” we hosted a Sleep Siesta Aromatherapy Workshop in collaboration with Aromatherapy Associates, welcoming colleagues for an immersive and restorative afternoon.
The session was led by Tammy Hee, Managing Director and Exclusive Distributor for leading wellness brands including Aromatherapy Associates, Codage Paris, and ESPA UK, alongside our Director of Day Spa by Chuan, Malthi Nair. Together, they created a warm and engaging environment, blending expertise with genuine care, and guiding participants through both the science and lived experience of better sleep.
Inspired by sleep expert Dr Neil Stanley and his Wellbeing Triangle of “Nutrition, Exercise, and Sleep”, the workshop explored how these three pillars work together to support holistic wellbeing. A key message throughout the session was that while elements like aromatherapy can support relaxation, quality sleep is shaped by a combination of habits, environment, and mindset.
Rather than simply talking about sleep, the session invited colleagues to experience it. Tammy and Malthi guided participants through calming breathing and inhalation exercises, helping them slow down, release tension, and become present. These simple yet powerful techniques encouraged participants to reconnect with their bodies and understand how relaxation supports better sleep.
Participants were introduced to aromatherapy as one of many supportive tools, exploring how certain scents can complement a calming bedtime routine and enhance relaxation. The emphasis, however, remained on building sustainable sleep practices, such as creating a restful environment, managing stress, and allowing the body and mind the space to truly unwind.
The goal of this experience was not only to raise awareness about the importance of sleep, but to provide practical, realistic tools that participants can carry into their everyday lives. From breathing techniques to small lifestyle adjustments, the session focused on empowering individuals to take ownership of their sleep health.
Because ultimately, sleep is personal and through this experience, we encouraged our community to see self-care not as an indulgence, but as the foundation of long-term wellbeing.
