Short Bio: My name is Ruth Miranda and I am the Respirtaory CNC for Blacktown Hospital. I work cosely with the medical team as well as the sleep scientists in managing patients with sleep apnea and sleep disordered breathing. I under take oximetry and trial of home CPAP as an inpatient service. I aslo part of the acute respiratory team managing patients with acute and chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure, initiating patients on NIV or follwoing up on patient sona lready established CPAP or NIV hterpay whilst they are inpatients. I have presented at the district education days, the Respiratory Nurse Interest Group NSW and regualr provide education to medical and nursing staff on home CPAP and NIV.

Recently a colleague suistained a stroke due to severe OSA, Hypertension and obesity. This promoted me to look at my role through a more preventative lens. Looking for an avenue to raise awareness is when we, the sleep scientist and myself decided to organise an event to raise awareness and promote sleep health as a priority. We are looking forward to hosting the event.

Activity: Physical Event in atrium of Blacktown Hospital

Representatives from RESMED, F&P, Lowenstein and BMC will have tables for display of their products, providing education and support.

Sleep scientists Janine Languido and Jenny Shepherd will have tables with resoruces for making sleep health a priority such as informations sheets and well as a animation created by them for promoting good sleep habits in children. This will be accessible by QR code.

The Respiratory Clinical Nurse Consultant and Educators will also have a table providing education and information.

There will also be a table with games and prizes and food!
