Short Bio: The Italian Apneic Association was founded in 2016 with the aim of supporting patients suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and informing the population about the risks of missing diagnosis and treatment. The association is committed to raising awareness among institutions and organizing information meetings in schools, universities, public and private companies, with particular attention to the road haulage sector1.
AAI also offers bureaucratic and information support to patients through active counters in Italian hospitals and collaborates with regional and national task forces. In addition, it carries out information campaigns, information days, webinars and video tutorials to spread correct information on the pathology of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Sleep Disorders
Activity: AAI is collaborating with Five countries in raising awareness of sleep apnea through a campaign called GASP (Global Awareness of Sleep Apnea). Our goal is for the international community to pay attention to sleep apnea and consider it as a serious as a chronic condition that afflicts almost billion people worldwide. Our campaign specifically aims to 1) Remove all stigma associated with sleep apnea and its relation to the several co-morbidities associated with this condition, 2) Bring attention to the ministries of health on all continents to initiate concrete actions, and 3) build a global alliance to promote awareness as well as provide support on managing care.
