Activity: Two Sleep Delegates from the Sleep Disorders Center at Summit Medical Group hosted an event in the Café located on the main campus of Summit Medical Group in Berkeley Heights New Jersey. The Café is frequented daily by hundreds of employees and patients. An area was designated for the Delegates who promoted this year’s slogan of “Join the Sleep World, Preserve Your Rhythms to Enjoy Life.”
Visitors received informational brochures on Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorders, The Body Clock, and Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. As we are still experiencing the doldrums of winter, there was a Light Box on display along with fact sheets detailing the benefits of light therapy.
All visitors were encouraged to join the Power Down Hour by selecting a screen device cut-off time to reduce blue light exposure prior to bedtime. In addition to encouraging the Power Down Hour participation, information and instruction was provided on applying blue light filtering software and apps.
Packages of almonds were distributed to all visitors. Labels placed on the almond packages read, “The vitamins, minerals and amino acids in almonds help us produce sleep-inducing melatonin. They are also high in tryptophan & magnesium, which is a natural muscle relaxer. Sweet Dreams from Summit Medical Group.”
A sleep enticing basket raffle was conducted at the culmination of the event. The basket contained products to help promote healthy sleep including: A Sunrise alarm clock, Oil Diffuser with Sleep Essential Oils, a Van Gogh Stormy Night eye mask, desk top light box, sleep promoting treats, and a Super Soft Fuzzy Cozy Warm Fluffy Blanket.
Information regarding the event was distributed via our Thrive enewsletter, Summit Insider, Twitter and Facebook.
