Short Bio: Laboratory of Neurophysiology, Institute of Medical Physiology “Richard Burian”, Belgrade University Faculty of Medicine is organizer of the activities devoted to World Sleep Day 2018 in Serbia. Laboratory of neurophysiology is especially oriented to epileptology and somonology, as well as to behavioral sciences. We are devoted to all aspects of research, education and application of neurophysiology. Organizers of this year activities dedicated to celebration of WSD are Olivera Stanojlovic (PI), Aleksandra Rasic Markovic and Dragan Hrncic, MDs, PhDs, professors of Belgrade University Faculty of Medicine.
Activity: Laboratory of Neurophysiology in collaboration with scientific partners, friends and students organized several activities devoted to celebration of World Sleep Day 2018 in Serbia.
Open Public Lecture “Sleep and Biological Rhythms: our internal clever watch”
Having in mind the credo of this year’s WSD, Prof. Stanojlovic, Lab of Neurophysiology PI and Course Director of Sleep Physiology at Faculty of Medicine of Belgrade, gave a lecture on biological rhythms and recent discoveries in this area. This lecture was introduction in BAW devoted to WSD. Lecture attracted a diverse auditorium from high school students to senior scientists and lay public accounting around 100 persons.

Interactive Exhibition “World of Sleep in Questions”
In order to promote healthy sleep and to raise awareness about sleep research, sleep medicine and the importance of quality and quantity of sleep for overall health status, we opted to organize an activity that will involve motivated MD and PhD students to work together on topics related to sleep physiology and sleep disorders, on one side, and to try to involved student’s population as target audience. In line with that, we have prepared and organized the Interactive Exhibition “World of Sleep in Questions”. Selected medical students from the Faculty of Medicine and PhD students, student members of the Lab of Neurophysiology worked together with moderators and D. Hrncic to prepare posters on selected interesting question about sleep, sleep disorders, sleep in animals etc. During the exhibitions presenters and moderators were available for discussion on sleep topics with visitors. Certificates were handed to presenters acknowledging their efforts and achieved results. We succeeded to attract a lot of visitors and to develop vivid discussion in front of posters. By this exhibition we have created and educated a team of young professionals ready to further disseminate sleep science and medicine postulates. Therefore, our educational and awareness goals were fully accomplished.
