Short Bio: A talk on “Increasing the awareness of sleep among the caregivers of the patients with stroke has been organized at “National Association of Stroke of Malaysia- Petaling Jaya – Malaysia”.

Activity:* The event was organized in concurrence with the World Sleep Day that has been celebrated on 15th March of 2019 worldwide. Discussion over various notions of sleep and associated issues for caregivers has been discussed. This talk was also comprised of demonstration of few physiotherapy methods and techniques which can abet sleep quality of the caregivers.

In the year 2018 we were fortunate to conduct a study “Association between sleep quality and burden on caregiver of cerebral stroke patient – a correlation study” at NASAM and this event was also organized to discuss basic notions / concepts of research in a way that it may benefit the participants/care givers of patients with stroke.

Following domain has been discussed / covered on the said date: 

Importance of sleep and issues associated with quality and quantity of sleep has been discussed. Basic concepts of research in a way that it may benefit the participants/care givers of patients with stroke.
Demonstration of a few breathing exercises and physiotherapy techniques that may benefit have been discussed.

“Sharing is caring and it was our attempt to show our respect and care towards care giver of patients with stroke and their by to the patients”.

We would like to convey our sincere thanks to Ms. Tracy Chan, Mr. Nimalan Arumugam, Mr. Tan Ruen Chong Ivan and all respective – respected physiotherapy and supporting staff for abetting us in the meaningful endeavor. We also would like to convey our sincere thanks to the care givers who have given their valuable time to us and have willingly participated in the talk. We had many questions and had a constructive discussion over the issues of sleep. We also would like to convey sincere thanks to “World sleep Society” for allowing us to use logo and tool kit for the said event.
