Intro Letter

Dear colleagues:

The World Sleep Day Committee, a program of WASM, has been gratified with the favorable world-wide response to the 2015 campaign carried out in 75 countries. The WSD mission of raising awareness about sleep and its disorders was certainly accomplished.

WSD has launched the slogan for 2016: “Good sleep is a reachable dream.” The slogan is purposefully broad in meaning to allow the celebration of a large diversity of activities surrounding the message that sleep maladies can be ameliorated, but recognition has to come first. The slogan allows both adult and pediatric themes, as well as topics of insomnia and hypersomnia, parasomnias and circadian dysrhythmias. Only your imagination can put a limit to the variety of programs that can be linked to WSD 2016.

Although March 18, 2016, seems far away, we encourage you to start  preparing your programs and activities.

With kind regards,

Antonio Culebras MD, Co-Chair WSD
Liborio Parrino, MD, Co-Chair WSD

World Sleep Day is an annual event, intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects and driving. It is organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of the World Association of Sleep Medicine (WASM) and aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.
