Short Bio: Dr Retno S Wardani completed her ear, nose and throat training at Universitas Indonesia. Dr Danni’s area of interest is rhinology, especially the pathogenesis of rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps through research in nasal immunity and inflammation. Based on the clinical research supported with molecular evidences, she shares the concept of United Airway and the protection of the entire airway by a proper nasal functioning during awake and sleep.
She has been also focusing a study of nasal obstruction related to disturbance of sleep architectures, dynamic collapse of the upper airway at the level of VOTE (vellum, oropharynx, tongue base and epiglottis), and the inflammatory mediators released during sleep disruption with nasal obstruction.
She is a passionate teacher whose aim is to see Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery intervention being performed in all district hospitals in Indonesia as well as her parallel mission to continue to run annual become bi-annual Jakarta Endoscopic Sinus Surgery course and to seek further knowledge to treat sleep problem related to nasal obstruction.
Activity: Celebrating World Sleep Day during Jakarta Endoscopic Ear and Sinus Surgery (JE2S) Course to be held at IMERI Building, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia, on Thursday to Saturday, 14 – 17 March 2019.
The date for lecture and workshop on Friday, 15 March 2019, covering all aspect about the role of nasal obstruction, collapse of the upper airway regions,and the sinonasal inflammation not related with obstruction but with cytokines and chemokines released.
