Short Bio: Lia Maisuradze, Doctor of Sciences, Prof. Assoc. in Ilia State University, Head Scientist in Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine, Sleep Research Specialist in the Institute of Neurology and Neuropsychology, a founder and Vice President of Georgian Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine Society, obtained her degree in Human and Animal Physiology. Her research is mainly focused on sleep deprivation effects, sleep and memory interrelation, and prevalence of sleep problems among Georgian general population. She has been involved in sleep science for more than three decades having more than 100 publications and regularly take a part international professional meetings. She has initiated Introduction Course on ‘Sleep Phenomenon’ which is followed by increased interest of students in Ilia State University. She organized and chaired 1st European training course – ‘Sleep Disorders’ which was held for the first time in Tbilisi, Georgia under support of the ESRS. In Georgian language, she first published two educational booklets which are related to sleep disorders and sleep and health. She has greatly contributed to the raise of public awareness of sleep significance for health in Georgia; starting to celebrate World Sleep Day there, she received award ‘Honorable Mention’ from the WASM/World Sleep Day.

Activity: This year, a great interest has been devoted to the World Sleep Day 2018 in Georgia. I was invited for interview from TV and Radio, and I gave special lecture for students in Ilia State University.
